Frequency Festival in hosting installation ‘FlightPaths‘ by Electric Egg as part of their 2026 programme at the Barbican Creative Hub.
Frequency Festival is an international celebration of digital creativity, held every two years in the historic city of Lincoln.
The FlightPaths installation was created as part of a collaborative process between artists Electric Egg and the children of Westgate Academy Primary School.
Informed by a series of creative workshops, the installation explores the themes of home and journeys and looks at the contribution of international aircrew in ‘Bomber County’ during the Second World War. The students were invited to respond to the journeys made by aircrew over 80 years ago and to reflect on their own feelings about Lincoln and what the idea of home means to them.
FlightPaths features the direct testimony of aircrew from countries as diverse as Australia and New Zealand, Poland and the Czech Republic, and Trinidad and Guyana, who made Lincolnshire their wartime home.

Electric Egg are passionate about telling stories. Their past work spans large-scale outdoor projections, interactive AR trails and films screened at festivals worldwide. A key part of Electric Egg’s work is placemaking and they are passionate about bringing history and local stories to life, helping communities see their heritage from fresh perspectives.
Access information
The piece features audio and sound content including music, sound effects and voice, but does not include repetitive flashing or intense visuals. It does not require physical interaction and is not a seated experience. It will be situated in the Barbican, which has wheelchair access. Overall, the work offers a calm and contemplative experience.
