Memory in a Bottle is a joyful celebration of the people, places and stories of the Lincolnshire Coast.
Funded by Arts Council England and Create North East Lincolnshire, this creative project brings generations together to share coastal memories through a travelling exhibition, an online gallery, a podcast series, and fun, hands-on workshops in schools.
Whether you’re local or just love the seaside, Memory in a Bottle offers a fresh look at the unique heritage of one of England’s most overlooked but fascinating coastlines
Memory in a Bottle arrives at Barbican Creative Hub, bringing the coastline into the city. The Barbican is a home for creative industry, a place to connect, collaborate and elevate, creating platforms, shining spotlights and creating spaces for exploration and engagement.
The full exhibition unfolds here, the banners, the portraits, and a specially commissioned soundscape, transforming this exhibition space into a place to pause.
Visitors are invited to wander through the installation and listen as voices from across the Lincolnshire coast fill the space. These stories carry memories of salt air, family rituals, working lives, and places loved and lost. Together they form a shared archive of what the coast means to the people who know it best.
Whether the shoreline is part of your everyday or a distant memory, Memory in a Bottle invites you to stop, reflect and reconnect, reminding us that our landscape is shaped as much by those who remember it as by the tide itself.
