Rachael joined us in 2025 as part of the first Creative in Residence cohort.

With more than 20 years in creative design, Rachael has worked with Disney,  Nickelodeon, MTV, and Primark, developing expertise in fashion design, illustration,  and branding.

Now an independent artist, she specialises in mosaic art, using  creative expression to explore mental health and personal storytelling.

Rachael has also built a career in music, performing as a soloist and in bands, with  her tracks featured on BBC Music Introducing. She is a dedicated community  advocate, volunteering at Dawber Garden Community Trust, where she leads art  workshops and creates mosaics that honour personal and collective histories.

During her residency she continues to develop her practice based in her studio on the top floor at the Barbican. Additionally, she has been providing workshops for the community to share her exploration, inspiration, skills and knowledge. Particularly highlighting the wellbeing impacts of creativity.

As a Barbican Creative Hub resident in Lincoln, I’m developing A Physical Response to Scars, a body of work rooted in imperfection, recovery, and the therapeutic power of making. I bring over 20 years of experience in commercial design, but a series of life altering events – corporate burnout, the death of my mother, and an accident that left me impaled by glass – radically shifted my focus. Mosaics became a instinctive and deeply personal form of expression.”
